Gardening

Spring is fast approaching and the temperature outside is beginning to rise. This means that it is the perfect time again to get back in to the garden. Do some maintenance and cut back any of those dead branches to encourage your garden to bloom in the coming months.

If you already have a green thumb or think that your garden or balcony is in need of some attention keep an eye out in the newsletter for tips on how get your garden looking great, and if you are feeling confident enough you can enter in to one of the categories in our annual gardening competition.

Details about the competition will be in your newsletter and on this website in the coming months. Until then, here are a couple of tips from one of our winners from last year Martin Traynor.

  • Make sure you use a good quality potting compost when transferring potted plants to ground.
  • Spring is a great time to plant bulbs such as summer hyacinth and meadow saffron, which flowers late into Winter. Remember to plant your bulbs at least 6 inches into the ground.
